U.S. Soy is the brand powered by the United Soybean Board and the Soy Checkoff. It represents soybeans grown by U.S. farmers and their role in Animal Feed & Nutrition, Industrial & Manufacturing, Biofuel & Energy, and CPG & Food Manufacturing.
The United Soybean Board, composed of 77 volunteer soybean farmers from across 30 states, oversees investments made through the Soy Checkoff to grow markets and drive research.
The Soy Checkoff is a farmer-funded investment program, with oversight from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, that supports research, education, and promotion to build demand for soy and drive value for U.S. soybean farmers.
The United Soybean Board administers national Soy Checkoff investments. U.S. Soy is the outward-facing brand that tells the story of soy’s impact to the public.
Soy is used in animal feed, human food, biofuels, industrial products (like asphalt, tires, and foams), and exported to 80+ markets across the globe. It’s one of the most versatile crops in the world.
Through investments in cost-share programs focused on soil health, carbon-reducing technologies like renewable diesel and Bioheat®, and the U.S. Soy Sustainability Assurance Protocol to meet international customers’ demand for sustainably sourced soy ingredients, U.S. Soy is helping to shape environmental and economic sustainability for future generations of farmers.
Yes. Many U.S. soybean products are developed using modern biotechnology. These advancements improve oil performance (like extended fry life and shelf life), enhance nutrition (more monounsaturated fats, less saturated fat), and support more sustainable farming practices.
Soybeans are used in thousands of products, primarily in the form of oil, often replacing petroleum in consumer and commercial goods. To see how soy is replacing petroleum in everyday products see the Industry & Manufacturing page. To learn more about soy as an energy source see the Biofuel & Energy page.
